Amazon To Fire 16,000 People Globally, Replace Them With AI
Amazon announced it will cut about 16,000 corporate jobs worldwide as part of its latest round of workforce reductions, marking one of the largest layoffs the company has undertaken in recent years. The company said the cuts are driven in part by its increased reliance on generative artificial intelligence to streamline operations, along with broader efforts to reduce bureaucracy and “remove layers.” These layoffs follow an earlier round of job cuts in late 2025 and impact roles across multiple business units, although Amazon has not specified which teams will be affected. Despite the job losses, the company reported strong financial results, with robust revenue growth and continued investment in strategic areas, highlighting a broader trend of tech companies using AI to reshape their workforce.

Gov pardons ex-Fairfax officer in fatal shooting of shoplifting suspect
Just days before leaving office, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin issued a full pardon to former Fairfax County police sergeant Wesley Shifflett, who had been convicted for reckless handling of a firearm in the 2023 fatal shooting of an unarmed man suspected of stealing sunglasses at a mall. Shifflett’s conviction, which came after a jury found he recklessly used his weapon during the encounter, had previously led to a three-year prison sentence that was mostly commuted. Youngkin justified the pardon by citing a review that deemed the officer’s use of force “objectively reasonable,” effectively overturning the jury’s verdict and reigniting debate about standards for police use of deadly force. The decision has drawn criticism from Johnson’s family and sparked broader discussions about accountability and legal protections for law enforcement officers.

The Hidden Security Risk: What You Need to Know About Tailgating
Tailgating, also known as piggybacking, is a common yet often overlooked security risk. It happens when an unauthorized individual gains access to a secured area by following closely behind an authorized person. While it can be as harmless as holding the door open for someone to be polite, it can also be as dangerous as an intruder exploiting this courtesy to breach your facility.
Even a single instance of unauthorized access can put your business, employees, and sensitive information at risk. Whether it’s a malicious actor entering to commit theft or an unvetted individual compromising private data, the consequences of tailgating can be severe.
