Burglars target 5 businesses in Chicago's East Hyde Park
Chicago police issued an alert after five businesses were burglarized on the city's South Side on Tuesday morning.
The burglaries happened between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m., with four reported in the 1600 block of East 55th Street and a fifth in the 1600 block of East 56th Street in the East Hyde Park neighborhood.
Police said in each incident, three suspects broke the front glass of each business before entering, taking property, and then fleeing the scene.

Alvin Patrick Traylor, who lists his address as Wilson St. in Struthers, was taken into custody outside a Walmart on Doral Drive.
Boardman Police Department officers responded to the location for a call about a man with active warrants.

Parolee arrested after stabbing civilian who intervened in Plattsburgh shoplifting
A civilian was stabbed Monday morning while trying to stop a shoplifter outside a Runnings store in Plattsburgh, according to New York State Police. The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Dylan M. Blake of Plattsburgh, was arrested the following day and charged with first-degree robbery.
The incident happened around 9:57 a.m. on November 17 at the Centre Drive retail location.
Police say Blake filled a cart with high-value tools and pushed it out of the store without paying.

Store employee robbed while suffering deadly cardiac arrest, police say
A man robbed a liquor store while an employee suffered a cardiac arrest, taking advantage of the medical emergency to steal about $800 from the safe before abandoning the victim.
Jason Hay, 53, suffered a cardiac arrest while working at Bins and Barrels Liquor Store in Portland, Oregon on Oct. 25 and died a week later in the hospital.
