Suspect Arrested in Long Beach After Stealing Over $10,000 in Merchandise from Retail Chain

A 31-year-old man was arrested in Long Beach after authorities linked him to multiple retail thefts, including one in Barstow where he allegedly stole $1,800 worth of merchandise.

Oficers responded to a reported theft on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at approximately 11:19 a.m.

The incident occurred at a business in the 2700 block of Tanger Way. Witnesses reported that a Hispanic male adult entered the store, took merchandise, and fled the scene.

According to a written statement from the Barstow Police Department, responding officers were able to obtain the license plate of the suspect vehicle and entered it into a law enforcement database.

11 people arrested in retail theft operation at University Town Center mall in Sarasota

Following a three-day operation in the University Town Center mall in Sarasota, 11 people were arrested and charged with theft.

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office said that on Tuesday, their tactical and intelligence units, as well as their criminal investigations section and their patrol bureau, conducted an operation in the mall between Nov. 18 and 20.

As a result of the operation, 11 people were arrested, deputies said. Collectively, those arrested have been charged with seven misdemeanors and eight felonies.

Palm Beach County Couple Accused in $31K Retail Theft Scheme

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced the arrest of a Palm Beach couple this week for allegedly running a large Organized Retail Theft scheme that resulted in $31,000 in losses from several major retailers.

“These types of thefts burden Florida’s families by driving up prices as stores try to cover their losses,” Uthmeier said in a release. “We are going to prioritize the safety and well-being of law-abiding Floridians by putting thieves behind bars and keeping prices down.”

According to the attorney general's office, suspects allegedly committed 40 documented thefts from Target, Publix, Walgreens, Dollar General, Winn-Dixie, Walmart, Macy’s, BJ’s Wholesale, and JCPenney in Palm Beach and Broward counties.

WSC strongly support swift passage of U.S. organized cargo and retail theft legislation

The World Shipping Council (WSC) has joined a broad coalition of 90 industry partners calling for quick passage of the bipartisan Combating Organized Retail Crime Act of 2025.
